Social Service Specialist 4 - Social Service Supervisor The Economic Services Administration is currently seeking a Social Service Supervisor to join our team at the Pierce North Community Services Office in Tacoma. In this role, you'll supervise and manage a unit of Social Service Specialist that assist people seeking benefits through WorkFirst and the Aged, Blind or Disabled assistance programs. Some of what you'll do Establish unit workloads and quality standards Assign, prioritize, and review work assignments to ensure that case levels are being maintained Monitor and audit performance, including eligibility determinations and case management activities Review eligibility determination to ensure that appropriate data gathering and verification techniques were utilized Hire and train new and existing professional staff in the law, policies, and procedures governing their job assignments Coordinate services with community partners, other state agencies, Local Area Planning networks, and other CSD partners to maintain, develop and implement programs and activities that prepare CSD customers for self-sufficiency Attend meetings locally and across the state, with possible overnight travel, with an expectation of full participation and to maintain information to share when returning to the CSO Participate in home or alternate site visits to evaluate situations and conduct assessments of vulnerable and disabled applicants, recipients, and/or children when the client/s is unable or unwilling to come into the Community Service Office Create a supportive environment that allows staff to advance and succeed through coaching and mentoring Consult with agency management regarding unit requirements Answer inquiries and respond to requests and complaints made by clients Prepare comprehensive correspondence to promote effective communication What we're looking for Strong leadership skills including the ability to identify strengths in others, identify solutions to complex problems, motivate peers and clients, adapt to each staff persons learning and communication styles, and clearly articulate the logic model used for decisions made Ability to create a positive work environment that supports collaboration, transparency, trust, and accountability Ability to build effective working relationships with assigned subordinates, administration officials, management team, service staff, partner agencies, contract providers, and the public Knowledge of management principles and operating methods Ability to exhibit tact, courtesy, and discretion in all work situations Ability to multi-task and deal with constant interruptions Ability to make critical decisions based on integration of information from multiple sources, that may be discrepant, in
