The Suquamish Tribe ASSISTANT DIRECTOR - EARLY LEARNING CENTER in Suquamish, Washington

The Suquamish Tribe is recruiting for an Assistant Director for the Marion Forsman-Boushie Early Learning Center. The Marion Forsman-Boushie Early Learning Center (MFBELC) provides Head Start, Early Head Start, Early Childhood Education Assistance Program (ECEAP), and Childcare services to children and families within our community and service area. This center prioritizes services to low income, high-needs children and families on the Port Madison Indian Reservation and the surrounding area, serving predominantly American Indian/Alaskan Native children ages 6 weeks to 11 years of age. Under the supervision of the MFBELC Program Director, this position provides management and leadership to staff and contract employees, ensures high-quality educational services for children, helps to establish and maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment, and actively promotes parent and community partnership for the education and well-being of the children we serve. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of principles of management and administration. Ability to relate well to and coordinate with the people being served. Ability to pay attention to detail and follow through with a task. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and objectives of Early Childhood Education Programs including Head Start and Child Development Programs. Qualifications, Education and or Experience: Requires a BA in Early Childhood Education or other education related BA. Must have minimum of 5 years early childhood education management and/or experience in a related field. Ability to work within a Tribal Community. Experience and understanding of the Head Start, Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program, Child Care Development Fund and applicable Washington Administrative Codes that pertain to child care. Knowledge and experience with ongoing monitoring. Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, receive and provide feedback, and manage dynamic interchanges. Proven ability to develop and manage a budget. Demonstrated experience in program management, including program planning, operations and evaluation, and the use of management information systems. Valid Washington State Driver's License. Food Handlers permit. Must obtain First Aid and CPR certifications. Must pass criminal background check and drug screening. Supervisory Responsibilities: Reviews and makes recommendations on personnel actions such as employment, retention, promotion, and termination. Promote career development and training opportunities for staff. Develops and implements in-service training and technical assistance plan.
