Spokane Transit Authority Database Administrator in Spokane, Washington

Database Administrator DBASTA is looking for qualified candidates to apply for our Database Administrator opening within our IS department. The incumbent will provide support for our automated database applications and related hardware and software. Some additional duties include the installation and support of database applications using Microsoft SQL Server, Access, and other databases as required. Maintaining, designing, tuning and expanding databases as required for optimal performance. Documenting organizations database environment. Installing and configuring new SQL Servers. Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms. Deploy database change scripts. This position will work closely with users at all levels within STA, vendors, consultants, and external users.Come help a great city move!YOU ARE:A Team PlayerRespectfulAccountableNeighborlyService OrientedInnovativeTrainedYou Have:Bachelor's degree in MIS, CS, or closely related fieldThree years experience with direct responsibilities for computer and database supportAdditional experience may be substituted for educational requirement on a year to year basisExperience with PowerShell and Microsoft Visual StudioYou might have:One year of on call troubleshooting experience with at least one SQL ServerFamiliarity with Tyler Munis ERP system and/or TrapezeWorking Knowledge of Vmware and VMware postgres databaseKnowledge of SSIS, SSRS, and SSASTroubleshoot application LogicAbility to use tools to diagnose server reliability and performance issuesEssential Functions:Specify, administer, secure, install, configure and monitor database applications. Install and configure new database applications for optimal use. Modify database configuration to accommodate changing user and data requirements. Upgrade older versions to new database structure. Analyze intended database use and configure to accomplish intended use. Test and evaluate upgrades for implementation. Determine applicability and timing for installations and upgrades.Install and test new releases and fixes provided by vendors; report problems; work directly with vendors to resolve user issues and program problems.Develop, test and maintain an effective backup strategy. Schedule and perform database backups. Schedule tasks to occur automatically at a specified time, day or night. Set alerts to provide notification of completion or failure. Restore databases and transaction logs and recover data, as neededManage database security. Determine and implement appropriate login security. Provide or restrict user access. Implement user permissions and controlsDevelop and maintain documentation standards and procedures related to STA computers and database applications.
