Trinity Health Food Services Supervisor in Silver Spring, Maryland

*General Summary: *

Oversees operations in the retail, patient services, or production area supporting the respective manager and Chef as needed. Supervise staff throughout their assigned shift. Assure quality, service excellence, and all appropriate policies and procedures. Meets the needs of guests and patients by assuring sufficient quantities of food and stock during periods of operations. Responsible for daily supervision of staff including, but not limited to staff schedules, cash handling, and training staff.

Supports the mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Two years experience in institutional food service including at least one year of food and nutrition supervisory experience preferred. Ability to talk and/or hear, taste and/or smell.

The supervisor is also the primary management contact for staff concerns, and directly oversees the communication of organizational objectives to the staff. Communication skills and the ability to educate staff are important elements of this job.

Working Conditions:

Physical Requirements: Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services, general laborer, etc.) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection, etc.)

Environmental Conditions: The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. The worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.
