Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret quantitative data to create and review monthly / quarterly and ad hoc exhibits based on detailed data sets

  • Perform data mining and analysis that impacts foundational pricing and risk assumptions

  • Provide accurate premium rate development

  • Extract and compile group specific utilization data to support customer reporting requirements

  • Assist in the preparation of annual revenue and claim forecasts to determine group - specific reserves

  • Participate in the UnitedHealth Actuarial Leadership Development Program (ALDP).

  • Participants rotate amongst the Actuarial businesses over a defined period of time.

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree (or higher)

  • Experience working in finance or the health care industry

  • Must be on the Actuarial exam track, having passed 2 or more Actuarial exams

  • 2+ years of experience working in a corporate environment including experience collecting, analyzing and summarizing qualitative / quantitative data

  • Experience using Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word (creating, saving, formatting documents), Excel (ability to create spreadsheets with formulas, graphs, and/or pivot tables to analyze data), PowerPoint (ability to create basic presentations) and Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar management)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience building Actuarial models in SQL (Structured Query Language), SAS (Statistical Analysis System) and / or VBA (Visual Basic for Applications)

  • Basic level of proficiency with MS Access (simple queries)
