Mott MacDonald Group Principal Project Manager - transit in Seattle, Washington

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Project Manager to manage, deliver and support transit projects in the Seattle, Washington, area. The Principal Project Manager may be responsible for day-to-day interaction with Client representatives at all levels, and for organizing team resource for the delivery of excellent solutions to the Client, and the continual improvement of the working relationship. The Principal Project Manager may manage a diverse team to monitor, coordinate, and evaluate key project activities to drive optimum project delivery. You may work within a team on a large project, with specific areas of responsibility. Alternatively you may take an overall lead role on medium- and smaller-sized project or portfolio of projects. The job responsibilities will include some or all of the following: Manage the relationship with the Client through effective delivery of technical excellence, improving Mott MacDonald's reputation and ensuring Client satisfaction. Support the project team and the Client with responsive and intelligent delivery and manage the tactical project delivery. Provide team leadership through excellent example, good team leadership characteristics, innovation, collaboration, and decisive action Supervise, coordinate, and direct staff with respect to contract requirements and compliance with policies and procedures. Motivate teams to excel in project delivery, on-time performance, and development of positive client relationships Act as the focal point for client coordination in the delivery of project tasks Adapt and respond effectively to project issues and challenges Prepare and interpret complex reports, recognize risks, and define and evaluate solutions Develop and control project scope, budget, and schedule Set and manage project expectations Effectively facilitate project team, client, and stakeholder meetings Develop and coordinate briefings and presentations for project stakeholders Evaluate and make recommendations on changes in scope of work, prepare and negotiate change orders Prepare and maintain project staffing plans and associated project budgets Perform staff development and evaluation tasks Prepare monthly progress reports Review and approve monthly invoices We invite applications from candidates with the following experience: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience Minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in the infrastructure and/or transit industry Experience with alternative construction project delivery desirable Project closeout experience would be advantageous Previous experience on Sound Transit projects would be beneficial, as would experience working transit extension projects for large US transit operators Possess sound judgment; highly developed management, organizational, interpersonal, presentation/training, oral and written communication skills; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to manage and work with multidisciplinary teams, deal with complex issues, and maintain effective working relationships Strong project management, leadership, interpersonal, communication, documentation, and technical skills are required Experience with client interaction and ability to excel in a client-facing role Involvement with local chapters of professional organization(s) preferred Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus Salary Range:$155k-188k Benefits:401k, medical, dental, and vision insurance, STD/LTD disability, holiday, personal time off (PTO), parental leave, and company-paid life insurance.
