POSITION OVERVIEW:Under the supervision of the Work Readiness Enrichment Program (WREP) Program Coordinator, the Life Navigator will serve as a mentor, confidant, cheerleader, guidance counselor, and accountability partner. A Life Navigator assists and guides youth with any issues that might interfere with program participation and completion, as well as, support Program Coordinator with individualized case plans.This position is funded by a grant to Goodwill Southeast Georgia. The position's continuance may be dependent upon on-going fundingESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:1.Serve as a positive role model for members who are part of our program 2.Provide support to our members who are overcoming myriad of issues 3.Assist youth with activities including service-learning, job shadowing, career exploration, etc.4.Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, meet bi-weekly with assigned members to review progress on their individualized case plan5.Assist with researching community resources: detox, rehabs, etc. 6.Support clients by occasionally providing transportation to appointments 7.Keep the Program Coordinator informed of unusual and/or crisis situation as they arise. 8.Gather all weekly/monthly data for program reports and submit to the Program Coordinator.9.Stay informed on any policy, procedure, or activities that affect the program. 10.Serve as the representative of WREP in the community and engage in community outreach, resource development, and networking activities in order to grow and market the program.11.Maintain a positive working relationships with community partners, service providers, and collaborating agencies.12.Accomplishes organization mission by completing related assignments as needed.WORKING CONDITIONSWork environment is primarily in the classroom and in the community, working with high-risk youth ages 14-16 who are disconnected and marginalized. Work environment usually fast paced with frequent/short deadlines and regular instances of critical or unusual situations. QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED?1 year experience working with high-risk, system-involved, disconnected youth?Mission driven person with strong work ethic; challenge seeker and problem solver; able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available; not afraid to take charge of a situation?Punctual and must be able to follow direction?Valid driver's license and car insurance?Working knowledge of MS Office Suite?Detail oriented, excellent communication, organizational, and writing skills?Must have valid drivers' license, own insurance and independent transportation.?The successful candidate will be subject to an initial criminal history background. Continued employment is contingent upon successfully completing the criminal history background check.?Ability to work as part of a team and relate effectively with other Goodwill staff members, community partners, employers, persons served and families; and representatives of other community service providers.
