USAA Director, Business Information Architect in San Antonio, Texas

Purpose of Job

Provides direction to teams across the enterprise regarding the development and implementation of the information management strategy to support the measuring and monitoring of enterprise business needs. Collaborates with the architectural communities and other information management activities. Influences and drives awareness of information strategy and architecture to the enterprise. Directs the development and implementation of strategies that supports maturing USAA's business capabilities.

Job Requirements

  • Leads strategic direction for information strategy and architecture capabilities, to include developing capabilities roadmaps and working with program management community in prioritizing and funding capabilities delivery.

  • Directs and collaborates with business and IT partners on utilizing information architecture and conceptual and logical model capabilities in support of achieving business operations and strategic goals and objectives.

  • Provides the leadership, motivation and environment necessary for building high performance work teams that collaborates with enterprise stakeholders.

  • Ensures team understands how the information strategy and architecture activities they are responsible for align with information management life cycle.

  • Directs team in work assignments, problem resolution, and producing quality work.

  • Advises executives on strategy and information capability roadmap.

  • Provides recommendations for action to executives.

  • Fosters proactive communication between business and IT teams to improve effectiveness and value of information strategy and architecture processes to the business.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information and Data Science, Information Studies or a related technical field. 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • OR

  • Master's degree in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information and Data Science, Information Studies or a related technical field.

  • OR

  • PhD in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information and Data Science, Information Studies or a related technical field

  • If Bachelor's degree, 8 or more years experience in information and/or data architecture to include strategy, planning, and delivery oversight. 3 or more years of direct and/or indirect management experience

  • OR

  • If Master's degree, 6 or more years experience in information and/or data architecture to include strategy, planning, and delivery oversight. 3 or more years of direct and/or indirect management experience

  • OR

  • If PhD, 5 or more years experience in information and/or data architecture to include strategy, planning, and delivery oversight. 3 or more years of direct and/or indirect management experience

Preferred

  • Experience working across Information Management functions such as Data Quality, Metadata, Information Governance and Information Architecture to increase trust in data and reporting solutions

  • Strong ability to influence up, down and across the organization

  • Property & Casualty Insurance product data expertise

  • Ability to communicate complex issues succinctly

  • Ability to work across competing areas/needs to prioritize and deliver results

  • Experience helping business partners turn data & analytics needs into executable requirements

  • Experience utilizing technology to deliver high value business outcomes

  • Modern data architecture experience (Cloud, Hadoop, nosql, etc)

  • Experience developing and driving implementation of a comprehensive Data Strategy for an organization

  • Systems modernization experience

Selected candidates will attend and complete the Management Development School program in San Antonio, TX, during their first six months in position.
