Details

DUTIES :(1) Maintain a record of performances that indicates continuing growth and national/international visibility; (2) perform chamber music in collaboration with University of Utah faculty and/or external artists; (3) teach studio clarinet, chamber music, wind literature, wind pedagogy, and other possible teaching assignments in support of the needs of the School of Music; (4) supervise undergraduate recitals, graduate recitals, and DMA documents; (5) recruit and advise undergraduate and graduate clarinet majors; (6) contribute to the advancement of the Woodwind Area curriculum and the coordination of instructors teaching Woodwind instruments; (7) serve on committees, including doctoral supervisory committees; and (8) perform other appropriate college, university, and professional service. QUALIFICATIONS :(1) Earned doctorate in Clarinet Performance or its equivalent in professional experience; (2) demonstrated evidence of successful applied teaching at the university level; (3) an artist-level performer, vibrant solo, chamber, or orchestral career. Commercial recordings are desirable. Preferred experience includes standard clarinet performance track record, as well as New Music performance or non-traditional repertoire. The strongest candidates will recognize that music has a strong potential for social change and community engagement and their work will reflect this. Experience in community-engaged teaching will be valued in the successful candidate.
