THE DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL THERAPY AND ATHLETIC TRAINING AT THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH is seeking an experienced applicant to function as Associate Director of Clinical Education for their planned extension Doctor of Physical Therapy program in St. George, Utah at Dixie State University. The position is a full-time career-line clinical faculty, at a rank commensurate with academic and clinical experience. Although this position is located at Dixie State University, this is an extension program through the University of Utah and the successful applicant will be an employee of the University of Utah. Principle Functions and Responsibilities: This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the inaugural faculty core of the extension of the University of Utah program in St. George, Utah. The individual in this position will collaborate with the current Program Chair and faculty, and with St. George located faculty and staff, to prepare for success of the satellite program through conscientious work, cooperation, and innovation. Responsibilities will include coordination and management of the efforts of the academic clinical education program and clinical education sites in the education and preparation of PT students by performing the following activities: communication between the academic institution and affiliated clinical sites; soliciting student placement opportunities; matching students to clinical site opportunities; managing evolving student competencies and skills assessed at clinical education experiences; clinical education program planning, implementation, and assessment; clinical site development; and, clinical faculty (SCCE-CI) assessment and training-development. As a faculty member, the appropriate individual will participate in classroom and-or online didactic teaching, student supervision in laboratory settings and will be expected to integrate their expertise by participating in the existing entry-level DPT, post-professional continuing education programs, or Rehabilitation Sciences PhD program. Such participation will include teaching, mentoring and serving on related committees as well as professional activities and service. Teaching in specific courses will depend upon the candidates clinical background, qualifications, and certifications. Development of clinically focused scholarship is an expectation for long-term retention and advancement in rank. Qualifications The Department seeks physical therapists licensed or eligible for licensure in Utah with a minimum of 3 years of clinical teaching and-or clinical coordination experience. Candidates should also: possess strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills; have current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g., word processing, e-mail, database) or proven ability to learn these skills; be able to work with students with specialneeds based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); possess knowledge of legislative,regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession; designand conduct collaborative research in clinical education or related areas; be able to initiate,administer, assess, and document all aspects of the clinical education program; be able to workindependently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers; and, be able to travel as needed.Additional preferred requirements include: prior teaching experiences in a physical therapist academicprogram and-or administrative experience in clinical practice; an earned doctoral degree, or enrolledin, or desire to pursue doctoral studies; knowledge of educational, management, and adult learningtheory and principles; active in clinical practice, especially as applicable to clinical education; active inprofessional activities at local, state, and-or national levels and an earned status as an APTACredentialed Clinical Instructor.
