The Application System Engineer acts as a lead in providing application design guidance and consultation, utilizing a thorough understanding of applicable technology, tools and existing designs. Analyzes highly complex business requirements, designs and writes technical specifications to design or redesign complex computer platforms and applications. Provides coding direction to less experienced staff or develops highly complex original code. Acts as an expert technical resource for analysis efforts. Verifies program logic by overseeing the debugging of programs. Oversees overall systems testing and the migration of platforms and applications to production. Develops new documentation, departmental technical procedures and user guides. Leads projects, allocates and manages the work of less experienced staff. Assures quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported area and oversees creation of or updates to and testing of the business continuation plan.

This role within Enterprise Information Technology specifically focuses on coordinating and driving activities across the Wealth and Investment Management Technology-BOSS organization pertaining to the Technology Compliance Plan and preceding technology compliance programs. This position will consult with application teams and coordinate with offshore technical members to ensure technical compliance requirements are met across a wide portfolio of applications within BOSS. The Brokerage Operations Systems and Services (BOSS) teams drives strategic delivery for our Front, Middle, and Back-office by supporting, controlling and developing technology solutions that enable our partners to achieve their vision. These solutions support critical functions in BETA, Securities Lending, Client Reporting, Lending and Banking Services, and Finance.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of development experience with one or more of the following: Java, C++, C#, C, or .NET

  • 7+ years of application development and implementation experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and cultivating professional relationships

  • Information Security Frameworks and standards (FFIEC, NIST, ISO) experience

  • Information Security Tools Development Unix and Windows experience

  • SQL experience

  • Systems vulnerability management experience

  • Ability to assess issues, make quick decisions, implement solutions, and influence change

  • Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities

  • Knowledge and understanding of digital certificate management

  • Knowledge and understanding of migrating an application from one database to another

  • Knowledge and understanding of patch management

  • Relational database experience

  • Experience operating effectively in a geographically dispersed organization

  • Experience with DNS Firewall concepts and practical applications

  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
