Position Summary:

Lead diverse and interesting projects that combine operations research, optimization, and simulation. Provide structured and creative analysis to identify distribution network improvement opportunities and to support our future growth strategies. Accomplishes team objectives by actively engaging with other functions in the business to validate modelling scenarios is representative of the real-world operations. Become an expert user of the Llamasoft supply chain software as the primary modelling tool for scenario modelling. Manage two individuals that forms the Operations Design team. Participate in steering meetings to ensure team goals remain achievable and outcomes relevant.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Works with MB leadership to define network design strategy, objectives, and metrics for success

  • Lead development of best practice methodologies and delivery approaches for network design

  • Deploy design standards and best practices, and ensure performance to standards and KPI’s

  • Develop direct team’s skills, establish individual and team goals for career path development; provide leadership, direction, and feedback to direct team

  • Responsible for project pipeline and resource management

  • Has broad interactions across various functions within MB relating to network analysis

  • Leads the development of scenario modelling representing either the current network or potential scenarios

  • Document the process of modelling for review and future development

  • Ensure data and assumptions used as part of modelling techniques are suitable, documented and vetted by business leads

  • Lead internal review processes to validate accuracy of developed scenarios

  • Prepares and presents internal and client presentations of modelling outputs as part of future strategy communication

  • Ensures that personal and team member knowledge and skill of the Llamasoft supply chain software is developed

  • Arranges structured training for the team

  • Attends structured training, especially during the on-boarding program of three months up to 50% travel may be required

  • Arrange the use of coaching services

  • Develop and manage two individuals, setting goals and performing reviews

  • Maintains a perspective on individual and team goals, managing and escalating risks or concerns

  • Manage own and team’s work to deliver according to project schedules

  • Provides weekly to bi-weekly updates to senior leadership

  • Assist acquisition of potential new business partner projects

  • Provide market research and analysis to determine risks, benefits and timelines

  • Will work with the Director to educate the organization on the important of SC design

  • Ensure value is realized

Position Requirements:

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience in industrial engineering, operations research or supply chain management

  • 8 plus years of related managerial experience

  • 5-12 years of related experience, previous supply chain experience

  • Experience in supervising a small team

  • Experience in or knowledge of supply chain planning and design (or demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply complex technical skills)

  • Previously trained in use of the Llamasoft tools (Supply Chain Guru, Data Guru, etc)

  • Understanding of data – integrity, collection, storage, interpretation and structure

  • Understanding of simulation and the differences between optimization and simulation

  • Self-motivated and disciplined team leader

  • Ability to creatively solve problems in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to develop business cases justifying strategic and tactical actions

  • Consistent and solid verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated experience and success in the following with little to no supervision:

  • Ability to multi-task and focus on multiple priorities during any given time period

  • Ability to prioritize activities and tasks, managing deadlines and scope

  • Analysis of complex issues

  • Dealing with uncomfortable or pressure situations

  • Ability to translate operational activities into models and specifications

  • Must be comfortable working in multi-cultural environments

  • Must be capable of national and limited international travel

  • Travel could be up to 20% (up to 50% in first three months)

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in industrial engineering, operations research or supply chain management

  • Database design & management

  • Some programming skills a plus, especially in optimization software packages

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, Transportation Management/Routing Systems, Warehouse Management System, Customer Relationship Management Systems, Business Intelligence

  • Green Belt Six Sigma/Lean Trained or Certified

  • Potential 3PL experience (design, ops, implementation)
