Ensures ground is prepped and trenches dug out for | | pipes.  Aligns pipes and seals joints together with cement or glue. | | | | Responsible for cleaning and preparing construction sites for the | | installation of pipe and other areas needed to complete the job. | | Unloads and loads materials, reads plans and specifications, tends | | machines, and other construction site work. | | | | RESPONSIBILITIES | | | | * * | | | | -          Participate in demolitions | | | | -          Remove trees and debris | | | | -          Clear and prepare work zones | | | | -          Lay out pipe routes, following written instructions or | | blueprints and coordinating layouts with supervisors | | | | -          Dig trenches to desired or required depths, by hand or | | using trenching tools | | | | -          Install sewer, water and storm drainpipes | | | | -          Operate air, electric, and pneumatic drills | | | | -          Removes hazardous and non hazardous materials | | | | -          Operate small equipment | | | | -          Align pipes in pipeline sections | | | | -          Slide pipe into trenches | | | | -          Tell tractor driver where to move pipe in preparation for | | installation | | | | -          Insert pacers in between pipes | | | | -          Pull out defective or misaligned pipes | | | | -          Correct alignments with sledgehammers | | | | -          Inspect places where pipes are fitted together to ensure | | pipes are space out properly and according to specifications | | | | -          Grade trenches or culverts | | | | -          Seal joints | | | | -          Use glue or welding equipment to ensure pipes are tightly | | fitted | | | | -          Ensure pipes are fitted and aligned using grade rods or | | transit levels | | | | -          Cover pipes with dirt or other material | | | | -          Install or repair sanitary or stormwater sewer structures | | or pipe systems | | | | -          Train or supervise others in laying pipe | | | | -          Lift heavy objects | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+
