Virginia State Government Enterprise Architect (IT Specialist III) in Richmond, Virginia
The Department of General Services is seeking an Enterprise Architect. As part of the Information Technology Services team, this position will work with leadership and subject matter experts, to ensure that IT delivers an architecture that supports the most efficient and secure computing environment. They will link the business mission, strategy, and processes of the organization to its IT strategy, and documents this using multiple architectural models or views that show how the current and future needs of an organization will be met in an efficient, sustainable, and adaptable manner.
Must have broad understanding of enterprise technology landscape including information security, infrastructure, operations, database administration, networking and application development – have significant depth in at least three major technology areas.
Must have ability to mentor to IT technical teams and maintain concurrence on tools, methodologies and technologies.
Must have experience troubleshooting and resolving performance and interoperability problems between system and application components, as well as application configuration issues that are beyond the Operating System level.
Must have a good understanding of Networking and Protocols (SOAP, HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP, POP3, HL7)
Must have experience in Object Oriented design and Service Oriented Architecture, including use case driven/iterative development.
Must have extensive ASP.Net Programming background.
Must have strong interpersonal and leadership skills to resolve problems in a professional manner, lead work teams, negotiate and create consensus.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must stay abreast of development trends and determine appropriate timing to embrace new or different technologies.
Must effectively diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex technical problems.
Experience in Project Management and preparing quality technical documentation. Position is responsible for creation and maintenance of architectural standards..
Experience with application design and implementation leveraging cloud platforms (SaaS/PaaS/IaaS) is highly desirable
Senior technical skills in MS SQL Server administration, design and modeling.
Extensive experience in shell scripting. Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting, a plus.
Must have ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical management and resources staff.
Oracle Database administration is a plus.
Prefer Degree in Information Systems or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Certified Project Manager by PMI or attained VITA PMD Qualifications is a plus.
