Microsoft Corporation Software Engineer II in Redmond, Washington

We are looking for a skilled engineer with passion for the communications space. As part of the People-Centered Experiences team for Outlook for Windows you will have the opportunity to design and develop code that will introduce new scenarios and capabilities, and deliver new experiences in conjunction with Office partner teams. By doubling-down on real-time monitoring and in-app support, we will enable a much faster ship cadence than has ever been possible in such a high-volume product. As such, good collaboration skills and experience designing infrastructure is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and brainstorm new people-centric features in Outlook for Windows, discover where investments need to be made, and understand the customer

  • Investigate possible design directions and new technologies including web service and shared or open source code

  • Develop an engineering plan including core design, unit tests, and relevant telemetry

  • Implement, validate, stabilize, and check in the feature

  • Monitor telemetry to continue to flight and validate the feature in various audiences (Team, Division, Microsoft, Insiders, Production)

  • Help diagnose service health and outages

Qualifications

  • Strong engineering fundamentals with a desire to learn more

  • A drive for technical excellence and quality

  • Experience writing object-oriented C++, ReactJS, and/or ReactNative

  • Strong customer focus with a passion for delivering delightful experiences

  • Excellent team-oriented collaboration skills

  • Experience owning and developing features end-to-end

  • 3+ yrs of relevant experience in the high-tech industry

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
