Our team has the extensive charter to integrate the best of Microsoft products and services into Windows Desktop experiences that make our customers more productive. We are looking for collaborative, inclusive, and customer obsessed software engineers to help develop the next wave of features in Windows. The team is working on building highly visible user experiences in close partnership with key stakeholders across Microsoft service offerings, bringing these offerings closer to the customer’s Windows experience and making Windows more personal for our users.

As a Software Engineer II you will partner and collaborate with multiple team members across multiple disciples to design and write clean and efficient code, with comprehensive tests, that deliver Windows client experiences, at high quality, with excellent coverage with metrics and telemetry. You are expected to demonstrate the ability to learn and adapt to modern development technologies, tools, methods, and processes. We are looking for collaborative engineers to bring their passion, drive, and technical insight to help accomplish these goals. Responsibilities

  • Design and build experiences on XAML, and Web UI (User Interface) frameworks.

  • Write clean, efficient code and comprehensive tests.

  • Build excellent coverage with metrics and telemetry to ensure we understand exactly what is happening with our products and services at all time.

  • Promote and influence quality and maintainability of the code through engineering efficiency.

  • Maximizes partnerships collaborating with team members spanning across multiple disciplines (Program Manager, Engineers, Designers, Data Science).

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience

  • Technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript

Other Requirements

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience empathizing with customer requirements and feedback and building well-crafted user experiences with a customer-oriented mindset

  • Demonstrate coding, debugging, and analytical skills; take end-to-end responsibility for the development, quality, diagnosability, and validation of the software you build

  • Demonstrated ability to work across discipline and across teams to drive collaborative innovation

  • Experience designing features in collaboration with teammates and engineers cross functionally

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
