Microsoft Corporation Software Engineer II in Redmond, Washington

Microsoft Core Services Engineering & Operations (CSEO) group is leading the company’s Digital Transformation journey. The Core Platform Fundamentals Team is looking for a seasoned Software Development Engineer. In this role you will build and manage enterprise services using latest cloud technologies. The service needs to provide critical support for Microsoft internal operations. You will interact with many partners to build solutions that enable them to adopt a unified model to optimize their operation and provide support for their data analysis and BI work.

You will work closely with a team of developers and PMs to support our core services. You are expected to follow best practice of compliance and modern engineering standard. You will be exposed to many internal tools that drives our business intelligence, operation efficiency and incident awareness. We constantly explore new opportunities to grow our tool set. Exploring new technology and prototyping new ideas are highly encouraged.

Responsibilities

You will be working with a team of Service and Software Engineers responsible for the end to end design and development of data hydration, normalization and integration with partner services. Setting standard for the quality of design, performance, and responsiveness, and working with partners across CSEO will be significant part of this job. We are looking for a Software Engineer with technical design and coding skills. Experience building UX, backend and passion for data analysis are required.

  • Technical excellence across multiple engineering disciplines.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Design, develop and ship high-quality customer facing product features.

  • Partner with PMs and business partners to understand business requirements and translate them into technical designs, while driving innovation.

  • Work in a culture of continuous improvement, adaptation, reflection and growth.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experiences:

  • Experience owning and developing features end-to-end.

  • Deep expertise in databases, data analytics, data mining, distributed systems

  • 3+ years’ experience writing in C#/Java, SQL, and JavaScript (or desire to learn) is preferred.

  • BA or BS in Computer Science or related discipline preferred.
