Our Retail technology team is a multi-channel organization, which showcases Microsoft technology by transforming the Windows PC, Software, Gaming and Mobile device buying experience. We are responsible for the agile delivery of innovative, multi-channel solutions for the Microsoft Retail Stores including our Online and physical Brick and Mortar locations. The Microsoft Store has continued to be at the center of the company’s consumer efforts and debuts our latest technologies such as Surface and HoloLens.

We are seeking highly motivated Service Engineers to join our growing team to lead the internal Microsoft Stores network development practices. We deliver retail network solutions that address Microsoft business needs at a global scale. You are responsible for the design, deployment, and operations of network development automation that configures routers, switches, load balancers, and Wide Area Network. The focus of this position is to design and deploy infrastructure solutions that provide the underpinning for client and server connectivity within the retail network. This job includes interaction with multiple teams including product teams, infrastructure and security teams, and service/project management teams. Engineers are expected to adapt in a dynamic environment, work with tight timelines for project deployments, and work collaboratively with teammates.

Responsibilities

Core Fundamental aspects of the position:

  • Provide engineering leadership to develop retail networking solutions that leverage routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls components

  • Develop/Write, test, and deploy efficient code in HTML, Python, and C# to make solutions that delight our customers

  • Manage our infrastructure ‘as code’ components leveraging full coding practices

  • Drive team transformation from Network Engineering to Network Development

  • Perform Direct Responsible Individual (DRI / Operations Support) for end-to-end service support.

  • Apply analytic techniques for diagnoses and insights, then using automation in the form of self-healing, attempt to auto correct faulting components to restore service health

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience developing retail level network solutions and or web development

  • BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

  • 2+ years of demonstratable experience with multiple network components such as BGP, VRFs, SSH, SNMP, and out of band techniques

  • 2+ years of demonstratable network automation development using Ansible and Python, including frameworks such as Flask and Jinja

Soft Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong team player who enjoys a mix of autonomy and collaboration-based delivery.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, commitments and projects.

  • Ability to influence, lead, and drive consensus on multiple technical views.

  • Self-motivated, directed and passionate.

  • Ability to learn very quickly in a fast-paced environment
