We are the Azure Media Services team. We deliver an end-to-end video platform in the cloud - encoding, processing and streaming millions of hours of Live/pre-recorded footage spanning different categories (entertainment, sports, training videos, meetings, security systems et al ) across multiple high-profile events (Olympics, Super Bowl etc) and high-volume customers. For these customers, multimodal media understanding is key to extracting maximal relevant information from massive video catalogs. Deep learning has revolutionized Computer Vision, and we are invested in pushing the envelope to build smarter solutions for a low-cost, high-accuracy video analytics service.

We seek a Data/Applied Scientist who is capable of identifying and translating customer needs into solutions - from building/refining/optimizing/evaluating models, to designing/brainstorming workflows that compose them together to solve real-world problems. This work will involve collaboration with external customers, the academic community, as well as internal partners - both in the AI/ML/CV space, and the media pipeline. You will have an opportunity to showcase and enhance your Vision AI knowledge, along with your ability to build customer-facing solutions.
5+ years professional research experience in Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, or a related field
Publication(s) in top-tier conferences or journals in related fields (e.g., CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, NIPS, ICML, IJCV, PAMI, etc.)
Strong algorithmic problem solving and software development skills (C/C++, Python, etc. )
Committed, responsible, dependable, and self-motivated
Proficiency with open source tools such as PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras, Caffe, etc.
Demonstrated capability as an independent researcher and engineer.
Experience collaborating with teams of diverse technical and cultural backgrounds.
Experience mentoring junior teammates.
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
