Microsoft Corporation Program Manager 2 in Redmond, Washington

The Commerce Financial Services (CFS) team enables one of Microsoft’s most business critical needs: electronic monetization of products and services. CFS powers all of Microsoft’s key businesses - Azure, Office 365, XBOX, Bing Ads, a Windows App Store, to name just a few. Whatever the business Microsoft is in, monetization is a critical part. With a global presence in over 240 markets, close to 150 million transactions a day, and approximately a half billion dollars of revenue processed per month, CFS services need to be true internet scale and have state of the art availability, reliability and responsiveness. CFS is in continuous agile evolution, through a services-oriented engineering model, in which the overall solution consists of well integrated but loosely coupled and independent services.

Our solutions support contract management, pricing, ordering, fulfillment, benefits and ecommerce across Microsoft’s Volume Licensing, OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing), and Microsoft Business Solutions (Dynamics) channels.

We are looking for an technically strong Program Manager to put their endless creativity to work leveraging agile, continuous delivery practices providing state of the art solutions for the OEM business channels. This position requires extensive cross-organization collaboration playing a crucial role in interfacing with OEM Partners and business stakeholders identifying requirements and transforming them into functional design for software engineering development. In this role, you will be a leader of delivery, strategy and direction. Your outside-in viewpoint, excellence in strategic thinking, driving for results, operational excellence, cross-division collaboration, and executive maturity skillset will be critical to your success; as you identify trade-offs, work across disciplines and divisions, balance tactical and strategic initiatives, drive decisions, present to executives, work with partners, and get your hands dirty with direct operational experience.


This ideal candidate should have extensive experience delivering and coordinating large enterprise-scale projects using software engineering best practices such as project scheduling, scenario and requirement definition, functional design, resourcing, issue/risk management, cross-division coordination and project and organization change management. In addition, this position requires an individual comfortable serving as the overall advocate for solution design and a leader of the program management discipline.


  • 5+ years of proven Technical Program/Product Management experience in large scale content release and distribution services

  • 3+ years of Release Management & Build/Deploy experience or comparable skills/experience

  • Strong analytical skills and experience in using data to drive continuous improvement for our customers

  • Fluency in using VSO or other work tracking and bug management systems

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to an exec audience

  • BA/BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience- Expertise in SQL, Azure, BI or big data, and data analytics

  • Ability to reverse engineer business rules through reading code

  • Experience in Azure Cloud and Deployment technologies

  • Working knowledge of Agile development methodologies
