The Microsoft Capacity, Supply Chain, and Provisioning (CSCP) group is an exciting and fast evolving engineering group within Microsoft. CSCP’s vision is to Empower Customers to Achieve More by Delivering Cloud Capacity Differentiated at Scale. Our mission is to deliver Capacity for all Cloud Services Predictably through Intelligent Systems driven by Continuous Learning and a World Class Organization. The organization is responsible for Microsoft’s Customer cloud promise of delivering on Elasticity and Scale at Optimal Cost and Speed. We cover all Microsoft Online Services, supporting over 200 businesses including Bing, O365, OneDrive, Xbox and Microsoft Azure branded services.

The Cloud Capacity Planning organization within CSCP has an opening for a world-class Project Manager to join our team. You will play a fundamental role in the end-to-end lifecycle capacity planning and processes. You will be expected to help solve complex technical issues, establish patterns and practices, and provide clarity and leadership to the entire team. Must be able to work independently and across teams, have strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, effective communication skills and the desire to educate others.

The candidate should be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, highly team-oriented, tenacious and focused on results. Among your many attributes you have a working understanding of servers, networks, and data center operations.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Develop and manage relationships with all stakeholders and suppliers on activities associated with capital council and monthly business reviews to resolve road blocks, ensure sign-offs from experts, push for key decisions as well as stakeholder alignment

  • Recommend internal and external process improvements and excellence conversations cross functionally to ensure we have optimized processes and aligned across partner teams

  • Regularly communicate status to internal stakeholders, with efficient analysis of issues and potential direction. Document the risks and discuss mitigation plans with key stakeholders

  • Have in depth understanding of various groups milestones and interdependencies for establishing an accurate and effective capacity plan

  • Responsible for effective management of risks and dependencies while ensuring timely decisions are being made, ensuring quality of the end deliverable

  • Interface with cross-functional teams that are key stakeholders including teams across Capacity Planning, Supply Planning, as well as DC, NW and Server Operations

  • Help define next generation planning processes and tools to scale with Microsoft's growth

  • Ability to deal with the ambiguity associated with working in a fast-paced and changing environment

  • Strong technical aptitude with excellent visual and verbal communication skills with ability to influence business and technical decision makers

  • Build relationships, gain consensus, remove tension/roadblocks and focus on the solution

  • Be independent and thorough in examination and analysis, alongside results oriented


Basic Qualifications:

  1. 5 years of business experience, including significant, senior-level leadership roles.

  2. Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science or engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Work experience in data centers, consulting or supply and capacity planning.

  2. 10 years of business experience, including significant, senior-level leadership roles.

  3. BA/BS degree in Technology, Engineering, or Science or equivalent practical experience, MS/MBA preferred

  4. Experience in program management, managing large-scale, dynamic technical projects

  5. Highly motivated; self-starter; drive for results

  6. Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, matrixed environment

  7. Firm sense of accountability and ownership for end-to-end program management; and the highest standards of business, ethics, and discretion, and confidentiality

  8. Prior supply chain or network/data center operations analytics experience is highly valued

  9. Strong communication skill is a must, ability to integrate information from multiple group (connecting the dot), escalate issue at the right time/level and ability to bring group together to resolve issue in a productive manner.
