Microsoft Corporation Principal Software Engineer in Redmond, Washington

The Core Platform Fundamentals team, part of the Core Services Engineering organization at Microsoft, is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to help drive the architecture, development, delivery and adoption of our growing cloud engineering platform. The ideal candidate for this position will have a deep technical background and possess a strong interest in application/services. They will be an experienced and high performing software engineer, capable of designing and developing complex products.

In the Core Services Engineering team at Microsoft, our engineers integrate and develop cutting edge enterprise technologies that change how users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas in all areas of engineering process and development. As a principal software engineer, you will work on specific projects that are critical to Microsoft’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grows and evolves. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

  • Overseeing architecture and design across a broad portfolio of engineering systems/services

  • Continually growing a deep technical understanding of the Microsoft technology stack

  • Writing and reviewing code as needed

  • Helping to define and improve software engineering processes and methodologies

  • Contributing in feature team and cross team design reviews

  • Mentoring and technical leadership of junior team members


  • Deep experience in designing and developing code

  • Strong knowledge of C# and developing enterprise scale Azure services

  • Desire and ability to mentor various levels of software developers on the team

  • 10+ years of software development experience

  • Exceptional interpersonal relationship and communication skills, verbal and written (peers, executives, cross culture)
