Microsoft Corporation Principal Program Manager - Minecraft in Redmond, Washington

As a Principal Program Manager for Minecraft you will partner with studio leadership and game team leaders to manage the delivery of a portfolio of products. As a leader within Minecraft’s Program Management team, you will define and deploy Production delivery frameworks for best in class Production delivery that all teams can benefit from. As a leader within the PM discipline, you will be expected to help grow the PM community at Minecraft.

This role requires strong collaboration across multiple studios, product teams, and functional disciplines. You will be a role-model, mentor, and connector to high performing PMs across both studios in Redmond and Stockholm. You will achieve this utilizing your experience, ability to listen and learn, and your relentless passion for quality. Your role will also involve the management of delivering multiple projects at a time, some creative, some technical. You should be comfortable being hands-on and working in a fast paced environment.

  • Own managing various product engineering programs through the full lifecycle of development to ensure on-time and at-quality delivery.

  • Partner with Production teams to define improvements to how we deliver our projects.

  • Be a connector. You will help foster and grow our PM community across multiple studios.

  • You will sometimes manage with authority and oftentimes through influence to deliver our project on-time, within budget, at quality, and with impact.


  • Excellent organizational and program management skills, with proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing tasks/priorities.

  • Well-developed executive communication and project management skills are required.

  • Experience with SDLC methodologies such as: Waterfall, SCRUM, or other agile methodologies is preferred.

  • A growth mind-set and ability to collaborate with stakeholders is a must.

  • Ability to embrace ambiguity, plan, and drive action.

  • Deep empathy for all player types with a curiosity for understanding how games positively affect and influence people’s lives.

  • A passion for gaming and ideally the Minecraft brand.

  • 12+ years of product management and/or program management experience with track record of managing distributed development teams and delivering projects on-time and with high quality.

  • 7+ years of experience in game development working on in-studio game teams and/or Publishing teams

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems engineering, MIS, or a related game development field.
