The PRSS (Product Release Security Services) team run a set of integrated, intelligent, and secure services to ingest, protect, and distribute Microsoft products at scale. We are responsible for Signing, Product Key Management, Anti-malware Scanning, Archiving/Distributing, and Releasing for Microsoft products and services. We are part of Azure and the services we provide have a company-wide impact, and there is a great opportunity to collaborate across multiple product groups within the company. We are looking for a motivated Principal Program Manager Lead who will help make the next generation of a highly distributed, secure, scalable and reliable Archiving and Distribution platform a reality.

The Product Release and Security Services Team in Azure/COSINE, provides security services and digital supply chain management across a wide range of Microsoft hardware and software products, including Windows, O365 and Azure.

In this position, you will be responsible for collaborating across multiple partner teams to support and evolve the Archival and Distribution service consumed by engineering groups across Microsoft. In this position, you will lead the team responsible for ensuring that the set of services meets the right level of security and provides critical foundational capabilities to ensure reliability, availability and scalability. At the same time, you will be responsible for working with partner teams to define strategies and roadmaps to onboard their services. You will also collaborate with key technology providers (e.g. Service Fabric, Azure) to drive engagement and alignment between the teams. In addition, you will lead the effort to transform these mission-critical, highly secure systems and the supporting engineering systems and tools to the world of DevOps, Continuous Integration / Continuous Development by driving automation and integrated process controls.

To be successful, you'll need to demonstrate having proven leadership skills, relevant skills to support a critical service, technical expertise to work directly with Software Engineers and influence architectures and designs, collaborate with and influence the consumers of our services, provide support, documentation, training, and work across stakeholders to influence innovative designs in our services.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of 5 Program Managers

  • Define product vision and strategy. Create scenarios that satisfy customer needs, accrue to business outcomes and the brand story. Partner early and closely with Service Engineering, Software Engineering, and infrastructure providers.

  • Define service feature roadmap. Define scenario success (outcomes & measures), service requirements (functional, telemetry and data visualizations), and risks/issues for service releases.

  • Prioritize and manage service backlog and phase scenario delivery into iterative chunks. Continually measure success and integrate learnings into future iterations.

  • Drive and coordinate project management and service roadmap communication to team members, customers, and partners

  • Collaborate with critical service delivery partners (SwE, SvE, infrastructure and security experts) to ensure continuous improvement in customer experience via a well-defined program management rhythm.

  • Support the Service Engineering team in any "critical" live site event with executive communications (not driving resolution of the incident).

  • Build and maintain strategic customer relationships

  • Build and maintain industry partner relationships. Understand competitive landscape and provide thought leadership in Microsoft for our service areas. Maintain relationships with key technology providers to understand and incorporate new features.

  • Define Policy for the service. Defining the security requirements (logical and physical), risk management parameters, and compliance policy to meet industry and company standards.

  • Maintain compliance activities related to the service(s)

  • Act as one of a rotating pool of DRI Leads

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years experience managing or leading direct teams or virtual teams

  • 8+ years of delivering multiple iterations of software and services

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies

  • Strong analytical skills with experience in creating visions, strategies and roadmaps backed by delivery

  • Excellent collaboration skills and be able to work with multiple partner teams across organizational boundaries to deliver on goals

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work through ambiguous situations

  • Self-motivated, proactive, positive, and results-oriented

  • Experience in architecting, designing and delivering highly available, highly scalable, reliable, and secure distributed services

  • Experience in cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and/or Google Compute Platform

  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems patterns and practices. Knowledge in Service Fabric or other distributed computing platform is a strong plus, as is experience with engineering deployment automation, CI/CD, and DevOps tools

  • Background in micro- and services-oriented architectures

  • Proven development and/or architecture background is a strong plus
