Microsoft Corporation Principal Group Program Manager in Redmond, Washington

The Core Operating System and Intelligent Edge (COSINE) team is responsible for the core Windows, Linux and other OS platforms that go into many different Microsoft products: Azure, Windows client, Surface devices, Windows server, Xbox, Hololens, and more.

As a Group Program Manager in the Fundamentals team in COSINE, you'll be responsible for leading a group of about 20 program managers who invent and implement strategies to make Windows "just work". As Windows evolves to meet new customer needs, this requires finding ways to better understand Windows behavior in production and to define new investments which will have meaningful impact on reducing crashes and compute pauses, increasing battery life, minimizing CPU/RAM/storage use, and maximizing performance. It also means playing defense by finding ever better ways to protect Windows from regressions. And it includes understanding the 1000s of developers who work on Windows, and innovating on new ways to help them understand the most important issues to work on, and to minimize the time it takes them to find the most important issues.

You'll be a key player in the Azure's work to optimize the use of every CPU cycle and every mW of power consumed. You'll be equally critical to Windows 10 client and server releases, as well as releases of new Surface hardware.

  • Understand the business priorities of Azure, Windows client and Windows server, to set investment priorities which matches with the most important needs of our customers. Also understand how this relates to competing products.

  • Partner with both the engineering team which implements the investments you define, and with many internal partner teams responsible for other aspects of Azure and Windows, as well as with external OEM and ODM partners.

  • Hire great people for your team, and continuously strengthen and evolve the team culture to be inclusive, productive and overall a great place to work.
