Microsoft Corporation Principal Group Program Manager in Redmond, Washington

We work closely with industry leaders across hardware, software, services and our 1 st and 3 rd party game development partners to ensure Microsoft’s platforms are designed and optimized to meet the needs of our most passionate fans and players, whether they choose to play on the Xbox console, their Windows PC or laptop, or mobile devices.

The Gaming Experiences and Platform (GXP) team is looking for an experienced Principal GPM to lead our Developer Ecosystem PM team. Our mission is to deliver an industry leading developer experience across the Xbox console, PC or our emerging Project xCloud game streaming service. As the GPM for the Developer Ecosystem team, you will lead a strong and diverse team of PMs responsible for defining how we engage with our development partners, the delivery of our critical developer tools, and helping to shape and define our presence at critical industry events including GDC and private NDA events for our managed development partners. You will be working closely with the industry’s best game developers and middleware providers, from AAA to small independent studios. You will also collaborate closely with key partner teams across both the Gaming division and the broader company including Xbox Live, Playfab, xCloud, Xbox Game Studios, Microsoft Store, and Visual Studio. Ideal candidates will have a strong track record of game developer obsession and insight, delivering key tools, middleware or platforms for game developers, strong cross group collaboration and a desire to engage and delight our community of industry leading content creators. Responsibilities

  • Be at the heart of defining, organizing and driving the game development experience on Xbox, PC and game streaming

  • Lead the engineering teams responsible for delivering industry leading developer tools and experiences

  • Partner with, inspire and collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders committed to empowering game developers

  • Be game developer obsessed in everything you do while also delivering on our key business objectives

  • Collaborate with key partner teams across the company including Xbox Live, Playfab, xCloud, and Visual Studio

  • Partner with premier, innovative 1st party games developed and published by Xbox Game Studios

  • Shape and define modern, transparent and collaborative engagement models w/ game developers across the world

  • Be a key connection point between the needs of game developers and consumers across Microsoft

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of related experience in Program Management, developer focused product development or game development

  • Demonstrated success in delivering innovative and compelling developer tools or platforms

  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, negotiation and project management skills

  • Self-starter who not only deals well with, but thrives in ambiguity

  • Dream to innovate and think about complex problems while retaining focus on maintaining a profitable business

  • Strong attention to details and analytical problem-solving capabilities

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience shipping game development focused products (e.g. Middleware, Engines, Games, Xbox, Playstation, etc)

  • Deep passion for game developers, gaming or the entertainment business
