Microsoft Services is looking for experienced industry professionals with Azure IaaS and Enterprise Open Source solutions who are interested in working as a Premier Field Engineer (PFE), to help us design and build the next generation of Azure-based Solutions for our customers. Microsoft is seeking a PFE specializing in Azure Infrastructure and Management. In this customer facing role, you will partner with the Account Delivery team and other engineers to engage technology decision makers striving to understand their challenges and creatively achieve their greatest objectives, built upon proven performance relative to your level. The PFE role serves as a deep technical advisor to customers and deliver unique value by supporting and increasing the consumption and productivity of acquired and/or deployed Microsoft technologies. The PFE is the primary technical contact, providing advisory services, advanced technical troubleshooting and problem resolution, including issues raised to the highest levels of management.


Support services delivered by a PFE will include:

·Proactive Services: Services which promote customer health through Risk Assessments, Health Checks,

Code Reviews, or other similar offerings.

·Dedicated Support: Engagements that strengthen customer relationships and IT infrastructure & application effectiveness through dedicated support delivery. Occasionally asked to provide reactive and 24x7 Critical Situations support

·Ad hoc Services: Short and long time limited engagements focused towards customer specific issue remediation or support (e.g. Chalk Talks).

·Workshops and Trainings: Technical training which address customer knowledge transfer needs helping customer to consume Microsoft products and services.



·A minimum of 3-5 years of technical proficiency in Microsoft Azure Infrastructure planning, managing, deploying, and performance tuning or similar experience with virtualization

·Experience troubleshooting automating infrastructure deployments using security best practices.

·Proficiency in one or more of the following areas: Azure PowerShell, CLI, Visual Studio, Python, Ruby, and Azure Resource Manager Templates.

·Experience configuring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning private, public and/or hybrid cloud solutions

·Experience designing, implementing, and securing resources including Azure Active Directory, Azure App Service Apps, Virtual Networks, and ARM Templates

·Experience designing networking and security solutions

·Experience creating and managing Azure Resource Manager (ARM) virtual machines

·Experience configuring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning simple to complex virtual storage strategies

·Experience designing a solution for management, automation, monitoring, and business continuity

·Experience collaborating independently or across diverse solution delivery teams

·Experience designing, implementing, and managing physical and virtual datacenters

·An understanding of core networking, storage, compute and security concepts

·Experience harvesting or re-using intellectual documentation on customer projects

Recommended/preferred qualifications:

Possess one or more of the following Azure Certifications:

o AZ-100: Microsoft Azure Infrastructure and Deployment

o AZ-101: Microsoft Azure Integration

o AZ-102: Microsoft Azure Administration Transition Exam

o AZ-103: Microsoft Azure Administrator

·Deep understanding of Windows Server 2012 - 2016, Hyper-V, MS Cluster Server/Multi-vendor Cluster, Active Directory & Azure Active Directory, Internet Explorer, IIS, SQL

·Experience giving presentations to technical and executive audiences, explaining cloud infrastructure solution concepts and benefits


Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science or Information Systems. Will consider related field or equivalent experience.


Travel is an integral part of this position. You should be willing to travel as is demanded by the needs of our customers and our business. This position may require travel to customer sites up to 50% of the time. Overnight travel may also be required.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must have an active US Government Security Clearance and be able to obtain a US Government security clearance at the level sought by our customers when required for the role. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer

screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.

Clearance Verification:
