Microsoft Corporation Finance Manager - C+AI Deal Controllership & Compliance Team in Redmond, Washington

Are you highly motivated and interested in adding value to businesses growing in complexity and scale? We are looking for a strong addition to our Finance Controllership team to lead Deal Controllership efforts across the engineering organizations we support.

This Finance Manager role is part of the Cloud and Artificial Intelligence (C+AI) Finance Controllership team that supports some of Microsoft’s most exciting and emerging businesses, including Azure, Artificial Intelligence, Dynamics, Universal Store and Commerce Platform and Cloud Infrastructure. This position reports into the C+AI Deal Controllership and Compliance Team that leads in driving complete and proactive deal and compliance oversight for new, evolving, and complex business areas to mitigate risks, implement guardrails that achieve completeness and accuracy in financial reporting, and enable Microsoft to operationalize in an efficient, scalable, and compliant manner. This position partners closely with Finance, Operations, Accounting, Engineering and Business Development teams to support onboarding of new deals as the C+AI businesses continue to enter into new strategic partnerships and shift to the cloud.

This individual will be key to ensuring deals are operationalized in accordance with MS Policies, GAAP and SOX. The role requires the ability to understand the big picture as well as have an outstanding attention to the underlying details. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, takes initiative, is excited for big challenges and can work independently in their approach to solving complex problems

Responsibilities

  • Support successful onboarding of new business deals in the market

  • Work with business partners to analyze the accounting implications and determine the appropriate financial operations of deals

  • Business partner across various teams including: Finance, Accounting, Operations, Business Development, Partner Account Management, Business Engineering, CELA, Tax, Treasury and other partners

  • Problem solve and support investigation and resolution of deal issues, driving timely resolution

  • Drive scalable deal financial operations processes

  • Engage with external partners

  • Provide deal synopsis and updates to senior management

  • Assist with process improvement and discipline across deal management

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or other relevant field. CPA or MBA is a plus.

  • 4 or more years of work experience in accounting/finance/audit and/or operations. Experience in the online services and/or technology industries is a bonus.

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written), including an ability to communicate effectively with external partners and senior management

  • High level of self-motivation. Ability to quickly identify what needs to be accomplished and resourcefulness to get things done.

  • Great collaboration, teamwork and business partnership. Solid team player with a willingness to jump in wherever needed.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on and manage multiple projects with tight timelines.

  • Ability to thrive in a fluid and ambiguous environment where everything is not fully defined

  • Project management experience and demonstrated ability to lead meetings, influence and drive impact.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required. Knowledge of MS Finance tools and policies desired.

  • Must be flexible, adaptable and proactive
