Microsoft Corporation Director, Systems Engineering in Redmond, Washington
As Director of Systems Engineering , you will help shape the future of cloud infrastructure with a growth mindset and desire to help keep Microsoft as a global leader in the cloud. You will lead a global team of operations escalations engineers focused on deployment of cloud hardware and making the repairs necessary to deliver capacity to Azure customers. Your team will define the engagement model with a global team of field technicians and drive the CO+I practice on incident and problem management.
Manage global teams of systems engineers executing break-fix and deployment of cloud hardware
Own and develop a practice of incident management that will keep millions of servers operating across the globe
Build a team of global experts capable of serving as highly skilled systems engineers
Look for opportunities to transition repetitive work from ad hoc actions to process and from process to automation
Define, track and optimize objective key results (OKRs) relevant to operations
Familiarity with IT work-flow systems
Expertise in IT service management in general and incident management
Ability to write, speak, and present information effectively and persuasively.
Demonstrated critical thinking, precision questioning, and problem-solving skills
Methodical, detail oriented and extremely organized with a strong ability to organize others.
Execution skills (self-directedness, drive for results, individual accountability, failure is not an option mindset).
Strong team building and collaboration skills across teams and divisions.
5+ years of management experience in operations and/or software engineering
BA/BS in business, management information systems, computer science or electrical engineering preferred or equivalent experience.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
5+ years running ITIL & service management
Experience inside Microsoft Azure utilization IcM and deployment automation systems
Experience taking manual work and driving the development of automation
Data driven mindset and experience using BI tools to generate data to influence outside teams
