Microsoft Corporation Data & Applied Scientist II in Redmond, Washington

AI and Advanced Architectures is looking for applied data scientist to join our multi-disciplinary team. Our work spans the stack from algorithms to silicon. As a part of the team, you will be working on developing next-generation AI algorithms that make efficient use of available computing resources.

AI and Advanced Architectures is a cross-discipline team of highly capable and motivated people in the Azure Hardware Systems Group with a collaborative culture and a strong track record of delivering strategic impact to Microsoft.


We are looking for applied data scientists with a passion for cross-stack optimization in large scale systems. Day to day tasks may include:

  • Machine learning workload analysis

  • Design & verification of new algorithms

  • Cross-stack collaboration & optimization

  • Implementing & evaluating various deep learning models


Required qualifications:

  • An M.S. or Ph.D. in CS, CE, Statistics or related area.

  • 1+ years of experience with Python, Tensorflow, PyTorch, or similar ML framework.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in mathematical foundations behind ML such as linear algebra, multivariate statistics, and optimization.

  • Experience with computer vision or natural language processing models.

  • Familiarity with best practices in large scale DL training.

  • Pragmatic attitude and ability to rapidly iterate and evolve ideas into practical implementations.
