Description

As a Concept Design Engineer for the Apparel Concept Creation Studio, you will provide creative insights, research and technical expertise to inspire discovery and experimentation. You will collaborate with multiple stakeholders; including cross functional team members, innovation project teams and category clients. The ideal candidate will meet complex challenges with imaginative state of the art approaches and solutions and must possess a deep knowledge and expertise in apparel construction, tailoring, fit and a broad working knowledge of textiles. You will create proof of concept prototypes in both digital and physical form.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design consultation and feasibility reviews

  • Interpreting a flat 2D design and creating a vision in 3D.

  • Create and deliver iterative trials in both digital and physical models for proof of concept

  • Innovative and complex problem-solving including ideation and inspiration thought partnership

  • Research & Exploration: Method of Make and Machinery

  • Manufacturing methodology

  • Education and storytelling

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in apparel design, technical design, architectural, industrial design or related field

  • 3 years apparel industry product creation and construction experience.

  • Additional 3 years industry experience in lieu of a degree

  • Advanced tailoring and sewing skills. Ability to work on a variety of modern industrial sewing equipment

  • Must possess an understanding of end to end apparel product creation process.

  • Proficiency and experience utilizing Digital tools and CAD software; Adobe Illustrator, Optitex, Vstitcher, CLO, Microsoft Office

  • Experience with product exploration or innovation projects preferred.

  • Strong communication skills necessary; must possess ability to influence, educate and story tell

  • Must possess a creative innovative, design thinking mindset. Curiosity for the future.

  • Well developed business and process sense.
