The Senior Provider Relations Advocate is responsible for the full range of provider relations and service interactions within UnitedHealth Group. Senior Provider Relations Advocates design and implement programs to build and nurture positive relationships between the health plan, providers (physician, hospital, ancillary, etc.), and practice managers.

If you are located in Albany, NY, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct frequent, in-person focus visits with providers within assigned geographic region

  • Actively contribute and work on key departmental initiatives

  • Assess and interpret customer needs and requirements

  • Identify and solve moderately complex problems and contracting needs

  • Work independently with minimal guidance

  • Help implement training and development of external providers through education programs

  • Translate concepts into practice

  • Provide explanations and information to others on difficult issues

  • Coach, provide feedback, and act as liaison between internal and external customers

  • Identify gaps in network composition and services to assist network contracting and development teams

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience

  • 4+ years of provider relations and/or senior customer service experience

  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access

  • 50-70% local travel

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and remain on task

  • Good organization and planning skills

  • Exceptional presentation, written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
