Meta Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Summary:

Reality Labs (RL) Research is committed to advancing the research and development necessary to bring groundbreaking virtual and augmented reality experience to people globally. In lab, we envision a future where social VR and AR enable individuals to connect across distances in a manner akin to face-to-face interactions. We are looking for an exceptional researcher with a proven track record in employing machine learning for solving intricate problems in computer vision and graphics that involve neural rendering, novel view synthesis, dynamic scenes, generative models. Additionally, we value outstanding software engineering skills for prototyping developed algorithms. As a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at RL Research, you will conduct research and collaborate with other Computer Vision and Machine Learning Researchers and Engineers to overcome challenges at the cutting edge intersection of computer vision and graphics, transforming virtual reality from dream to reality. We are in search of an innovative researcher to pioneer the development of efficient, high-quality rendering techniques optimized for mobile VR headsets.

Required Skills:

Postdoctoral Research Scientist Responsibilities:

  1. Develop state-of-the-art algorithms to address challenges related to computer vision, graphics, neural rendering, and view synthesis.

  2. Design novel representations and techniques for efficient and high-quality rendering of codec avatars for mobile VR headsets.

  3. Publish research results in top-tier journals and at leading international conferences

  4. Contributing research that can be applied to Meta VR/AR product development.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

  2. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD in the field of computer vision, computer graphics, machine learning or a related field. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.

  3. Proven track record in using machine learning, computer graphics or computer vision.

  4. Experience with differentiable rendering, neural rendering, generative models, view synthesis, or 3D reconstruction.

  5. Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.

  6. Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading conferences (e.g., SIGGRAPH, CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML) or journals (e.g., PAMI, IJCV, JMLR, ToG).

  2. Extensive experience in designing and developing computer vision or machine learning algorithms using popular machine learning frameworks (e.g PyTorch) in Python

  3. Experience in designing and developing computer graphics algorithms using OpenGL/Vulkan or other graphics API in C++ and shading languages.

  4. Experience is developing high performance extensions for machine learning frameworks (e.g PyTorch) in CUDA or other GPGPU API.

  5. Experience with neural rendering approaches, e.g. NeRF or volumetric rendering.

  6. Experience in 3D computer vision, graphics, and deep learning models for this domain.

  7. Demonstrated software engineer experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub)

Public Compensation:

$117,000/year to $173,000/year + benefits
