Positions in this function are responsible for checking in, scheduling appointments, answering billing questions and managing patient medical records for a clinic. Roles may vary based on the size of the clinic(s).
Respond to patient questions in person or over thephone
Greet patients and build rapport to provide a positivepatient experience
Collect patient payments
Make patient follow up calls (e.g., after procedures,admissions, or ER visits) to identify/close gaps in care
Ask patients for and/or assist patients with completingrequired paperwork (e.g., health history, insurance documentation,etc.)
Connect patients with outside resources (e.g.,community resources, social services) to promote self-care
Review and support implementation of patient plan ofcare
Work directly with patients to identify specific needsand/or request adjustments to plan of care
Coordinate services/case management for non-episodicand non-catastrophic cases
Manage/respond constructively to challenging patientinteractions (e.g., address lack of understanding, socioeconomicchallenges, frustrated patients, language barriers)
Explain and talk to patients or caregivers aboutsensitive health care decisions such as advanced directives, physician'sorder for life sustaining treatment, and palliative care/hospicereferrals
Explain and ensure understanding of details related topatient care (e.g., , home health care transition procedures)
Explain medical benefits/coverage specifics(e.g., procedures/amounts covered, denials of coverage, appeal rights)
High School Diploma / GED orhigher
2+ years scheduling experience
1+ years of a Healthcarebackground with Medical Terminology familiarity of Clinical issues
1+ years of working experience with Microsoft Word creatingdocuments and Excel to create / edit spreadsheets and use formulas
2+ years experience scheduling Home Healthcare (HHC) and / orDurable Medical Equipment (DME) with a 3rd party
CPR+ Software knowledge and experience
Ability to work under pressure to meet patient needs and deadlines
Ability to function in ever changing, fast paced environment
Exhibit flexibility to coordinate other activities within andoutside of job function
