Enterprise Data Management is the centralized data management team for VMware. Recently formed, this team will drive the establishment, deployment and adoption of data management capabilities across the company. The team is responsible for data governance, metadata, data quality, master data management and the implementation of data management capabilities in large projects.

Job Role and Responsibility

This leader will design the data quality standards for VMware, serve as the thought leader for data quality across the company, establish and provide oversight and transparency into the company’s data quality program, and partner with core data management and technology teams to implement the data quality strategy. This role will require strong analytical, innovative, and creative problem-solving skills to ensure the data quality strategy enables the business strategy and objectives. To successfully achieve a data quality culture, this leader must develop a comprehensive measurable strategy across all business units, business processes and applications. This leader will be responsible for:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Developing a strategic vision and roadmap defines the approach for implementing data quality capabilities for the company

  • Defining, prioritizing, and overseeing delivery of the data quality capabilities required by the business functions

  • Providing thought leadership, pragmatic input, and high-level requirements for data quality capabilities

  • Defining data quality metrics & thresholds

  • Developing business data quality rules

  • Implementing data quality controls & create meaningful reporting

  • Driving to address data quality gaps in coverage & depth

  • Eventually, integrate data quality testing and monitoring into BAU processes in a comprehensive but not over burdensome way

This leader will be responsible for establishing the data quality function, but also evolving and maturing this critical capability over time, alongside business need and within cross-functional projects/transformation initiatives.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in data quality or similar roles

  • Proven track record of creating and producing high quality data management capabilities

  • Demonstrated ability to tell a story through data and communicate effectively with leadership and other key stakeholders

  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration skills

  • Ability to connect data/metrics to business metrics and results

  • Ability and motivation to work effectively and productively in a multi-task environment daily, independently and with minimal supervision.
