Licensure from an accredited school of phlebotomyPhlebotomist tasks include:.and.nbsp;Proficient at venipuncture and skin puncture (finger stick) collection, blood pressures, weighing and taking patient heights..and.nbsp;Perform diagnostic procedures, interpreting test results, use of the coulter, and proper recording of charts..and.nbsp;The phlebotomist should be able to assist the physician with bone marrows and provide comfort to the patient..and.nbsp;Carry out the utmost care and precautions collecting samples in order to prevent transmission of any infectious diseases..and.nbsp;Familiar with sterilization practices and infection control.and.nbsp;Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.and.nbsp;Properly identifies and bands patients for blood product transfusion. Processes properly labeled specimens according to local bloodbank policy..and.nbsp;Operates designated laboratory equipment as directed..and.nbsp;Uses equipment effectively, skillfully and efficiently.
