Position Description :
The Patient Care Technician delivers patient care that is both patient and family centered. Incorporates team focused, collegial relationships to ensure patient safety and improve outcomes. Maintains organizational competencies of superior quality care, critical thinking and interpersonal skills. Demonstrates accountability to the patient, family, self and the healthcare team. Provides superior quality care and assumes responsibility and accountability for their role in performance outcomes while supporting Pennsylvania Hospital’s Relationship Based Care Model.
Minimum Requirements :
The qualified candidate must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. A Nursing Assistant Certification is required, or must be a Nursing Student with at least 1 semester rotation on a medical surgical unit. BLS certification through the American Heart Association required.

The Beacon Award Winning (Silver Level) Critical Care Complex at Pennsylvania Hospital is made up of three unique units: The Intensive Care Unit, The Cardiac Care Unit and the Neuro Intensive Care Unit. Together, under one leadership team, they provide clinical care to the highest acuity medical and surgical patients at the hospital.
The ICU is a general intensive care unit which specializes in the care of pulmonary/critical care medicine, general surgery, ENT surgery and orthopedics.
The critical care nursing team partners with an interdisciplinary team of providers, respiratory therapists, social workers, pharmacists, rehab therapists and more to provide quality care to our patients in an open environment which also supports the families and loved ones of our patients. In addition to caring for the patients in the complex, members of the critical care team also respond to emergencies throughout the hospital as part of the rapid response and code teams. Our nursing team prides itself on its teamwork!
