University of Mississippi Instructional Asst Professor or Instructor-Biology in Oxford, Mississippi

This Position is for an Instructional Assistant Professor or Instructor with a public university work location in University, MS.

Position Description

The Department of Biology in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Mississippi invites applicants for two full-time, 9-month, promotion-eligible, non-tenure track Instructor or Instructional Assistant Professor positions.

Position 1: The successful candidate will be a member of a team involved in teaching both laboratory and lecture for the two introductory biology courses and associated laboratories for majors. The successful candidate will help with managing, training, and evaluating graduate teaching assistants and will work with the team to modify laboratory and lecture curricula to emphasize and implement evidence-based inclusive teaching practices.

Position 2: The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and teaching laboratories for courses in microbiology and other allied health-related fields, and collaborating with faculty instructors to develop new and innovative laboratory exercises. The successful candidate will ensure that laboratory equipment and supplies are properly maintained and prepared and y will train and manage teaching assistants, evaluate their performance, and provide feedback.

Successful candidates will also participate in the academic advising of undergraduate biology majors and provide departmental service. They will join a collaborative faculty committed to teaching and research, including discipline-based education research.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must hold at least a Masters degree in Biology or a related field.
