Field Engineer, Aerial Targets Site Lead

The selected candidate will serve as the Aerial Targets Contractor Site Lead for a contractor team that provides support services for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), Atlantic Targets and Marine Operations (ATMO) Division's Aerial Targets Group, based in Dam Neck, Va. The ATMO Aerial Targets Group operates remote controlled BQM-74E, BQM-34S, and BQM-177 aerial targets, designed to emulate anti-ship cruise missiles, weapon systems, Infrared and Electronic Warfare sources. Aerial Targets Site Lead duties will include coordination with the KBRwyle Program Manager, leadership and oversight of a contractor team, direct day-to-day liaison and coordination with the government leadership, and coordination of contractor team activities to include: developing target build plans, completing target builds, conducting target pad operations, and executing post operations target functions. Duties will also include logistics, ordnance, material control coordination as well as directing the daily aerial target maintenance and operations on site and at detached locations.

Requirements

This position requires a h igh school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of technical school, trade school, or advanced armed services technical school curriculum or program of study in electricity, electronics, avionics, mechanics, armaments/ordnance, or engineering technology; or completion of at least 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of courses at an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical curriculum. In lieu of post-high school education/training, a total of 14 years of work experience in performing the functions of an Engineering Technician is acceptable. A minimum of 12 years of work experience working with aerial targets operations such as BQM-74E or the BQM-34S target types is required. A minimum of 2 years of work experience in ordnance handling is required. Applicant must have completed the following NAVAIR training courses: Ammunition 18 – Basics of Naval Explosives Hazard Control, Ammunition and Ammunition 49 – Naval Explosives Safety Managers/Supervisors Orientation. Applicant selected may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Preferred Skills

Support experience with ATMO operations is highly desired. Experience in planning and conducting complex military training operations is desired.
