Sutter Health SMU-Student Accounts Coordinator in Oakland, California

Position Overview:

This position will provide support to the Bursar and staff as required.The tasks for this position that are to be included;

a. Monitorstudent account balances, using the PowerCampus custom aging report, foravailable financial aid.

b. Calculateand request disbursements of refunds for student credit balances within the 14 dayfederal guideline.

c. Setup and monitor payment plans.

d. Prepare andbalance the daily student account deposits and verify the accuracy of thepostings. Review payments and ensure cash receipts are posted to the correctyear and term.

e. Reviewof student accounts for accuracy of billing and production of studentstatements.

f. Attendnew student orientations to explain the tuition process and answer anyquestions.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to use personal computers in a networkedenvironment; as well as knowledge and experience with Windows operating system.

  • Extensiveknowledge of Excel and word processing software.

  • Heavyphones and e-mail usage will be required.

  • Possess thorough knowledge of fundamentalaccounting principles, theories and terminologies, plus skills to perform taskswith accuracy and competence.

  • Abilityto perform and analyze reconciliation data for meaningful conclusions andreasonableness.

  • Ability to organize and complete large-scaleprojects independently while participating as a team player.

  • Demonstrateconsistent levels of accuracy and motivation.

  • Abilityto interface with large, diverse user groups and vendors.

  • Mustbe able to represent Samuel Merritt University professionally and responsiblyto the public.

  • Abilityto interact effectively with faculty, administration, vendors and allconstituencies involved in the process.

  • Abilityto handle stress and deadlines.

  • Occasionalovertime may be required. Education and/or Experience:

  • Acombination of two to three years of education and related experience and/ortraining that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed forsuccessful performance of the job duties will be considered.

  • Prefera Baccalaureate Degree in Business Administration or a related field from anaccredited college or university.

  • Twoyears in increasingly responsible accounts receivable work environment and/orcombination of accounting.

  • Previous experience in a higher educationenvironment highly desirable.
