RF HW Engineer

job summary:

. The person that fills this role will be a member in our instrument design team.

As an individual contributor you will work with other members of the product development team to design high quality, state of the art test and measurement instruments operating at frequencies from DC to 6 GHz.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze RF system architectures, including detailed cascade analysis and system analysis

  • Design and analyze RF, analog, and mixed signal PCBA circuits using ADS, HFSS, and other design and simulation tools

  • Develop prototype designs using both component evaluation boards and fast-turn custom PCBAs as a means to define and mitigate technical risks

  • Develop test plans and perform design verification in the lab, including the development of automated test programs for data collection and analysis

  • Document and drive to root cause and corrective actions design defects, manufacturing defects, and other quality issues in prototype designs

  • Key contributor to design documentation such as technical assessments, implementation specifications, performance specifications, and layered specification documents

  • Work closely with internal individuals and external vendors to insure designs are consistent with manufacturing constraints, including Design-For-Manufacturing (DFM) and Design-For-Test (DFT)

  • Participate in technical discussions and exchanges regarding technology developments, next generation developments and roadmaps

Basic Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Education Required

Qualified applicants will have:

  • BSEE or equivalent (MSEE preferred) with 5+ years of experience in RF, analog, and mixed signal circuit design up to 6 GHz

  • Experienced in AC and RF cascade analysis and systems analysis

  • Experienced in AC and RF PCB design and simulation

  • Experienced in design and simulation tools such as ADS, HFSS, or similar

  • Experienced in hands-on lab work: prototyping, design verification, creating and executing test plans, and use of lab equipment to make complex RF measurements

  • Experienced in developing automated lab test suites using Labview, C, Matlab, VBA, or similar

  • Experienced in the technical oversight of vendors and contractors

  • Strong problem solving and debugging skills
