Citigroup Senior Content Development Specialist in New York, New York

This role is a key member of Citi's Global Public Affairs team. Global Public Affairs seeks to enhance and protect the reputation of Citi, its businesses and the brand globally through direct and indirect communication with Citi's various stakeholders. The Corporate Communications team is a team within Global Public Affairs that covers a broad scope of responsibilities, ranging from support for the CEO’s public engagements to quarterly earnings, sponsorship and corporate responsibility including our philanthropic and community development efforts. The nature of the work provides a dynamic environment where members of the team serve as company spokespeople to media and other external stakeholders. Within Citi, the team works with many internal partners, including senior leadership, and regularly coordinates closely with other members of the Global Public Affairs team in regions across the world. Working with partners throughout the organization, this role will support an effective content strategy for the company across all platforms. This role requires experience in adept storytelling and cultivating strategic partnerships that support planning, researching, developing, writing, editing and executing high quality, accurate and timely communications content that aligns with Citi’s business objectives. This role reports to the Head of Corporate Communications.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement an editorial strategy and create content that aligns with Citi’s brand and engages, inspires, and informs key stakeholders while supporting the company’s strategic direction

  • Support the development of Citi’s point of view on emerging/hot topics and key industry issues

  • Support senior leadership team’s communications efforts

  • Develop content for Citi’s sponsored content initiatives for use across all the company’s channels

  • Serve as the editor-in-chief for Citi’s external reports such as the Citizenship report

  • Help to keep Citi’s narrative fresh and consistently integrated into communications materials

  • Serve as a resource for members of the broader Public Affairs function seeking access to current messaging about Citi and related key topics

  • Drive excellent storytelling and maintain journalistic standards


  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or other related field.

  • Expert knowledge of communications and 10+ years of increased responsibility for internal communications management, preferably in financial institution setting.

  • Demonstrated track record of conducting successful, proactive internal communications programs that employ creativity and use a variety of tools, forums and media.

  • A leader who will implement initiatives effectively and motivate others to contribute

  • Highly articulate in verbal presentations as well as written communications.

  • Strong communications (written, verbal and interpersonal) skills, including tact, diplomacy, and ability to influence senior-level executives.

  • Integrity, maturity, dependability, a positive professional attitude.

  • A team player who will implement initiatives effectively and motivate others to carry out their work.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.

  • Experience or demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team based environment within a heavily matrixed organization.

  • Strategic mindset to integrate business strategy into all communications.

  • Track record of success in delivering high quality work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
