The Director of Finance (Task Force) acts as a Hotel’s Director of Finance, chief business officer and senior financial and accounting person for hotels which are experiencing a vacancy in the Director of Finance’s position. The position is responsible for all aspects of financial management, financial control, accounting and financial reporting for the assigned property. The position is also responsible for training of new Directors of Finance. The responsibilities of a Traveling Controller include, but are not limited to, timely, responsive and accurate completion of or training for the following duties. This position requires 90% travel

  • Understanding and compliance with all of the property’s contractual documents

  • Timely preparation of monthly financial statements for the property

  • Monitoring and control of hotel operations, cash flow and operating forecasts for the property

  • Timely interaction with Executive Committee members to assure that property operations are on track and under control at all times

  • Creation of annual budgets and monthly variance analyses for the property

  • Preparation and/or review and approval of monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations for the property

  • Supervision of accounting department staff

  • Review, approval and processing of disbursements

  • Compliance with Standard Accounting Policies and Procedures and internal controls for our finance and accounting operations

  • Successful completion of internal and external financial audits, including coordination of work with CPA firms and delivering information requested by auditors on a timely basis

  • Preparation of any special reports, statements, etc., as requested

  • Other special projects and responsibilities as assigned

  • Eight + years of hospitality related financial management and accounting experience at the property level, including experience as a DOF or Assistant DOF at a larger property

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required

  • Strong PC skills including Excel, Word and financial accounting systems

  • Strong organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work overtime as necessary to complete assigned duties

  • 90% travel required

  • Oracle accounting system experience strongly preferred
