LCMC Health Patient Care Technician - Telemetry / MedSurg - Full Time - Day Shift in New Orleans, Louisiana

POSITION SUMMARY: The purpose of this job is to accurately perform the order transcription process and to handle receptionist and clerical duties.
POSITION DUTIES: Facilitates and maintains a safe environment for patients and others.
- Performs the priority technical procedures required by the area/department/assignment safely, effectively, efficiently, and legally. Including, but not limited to: Transcribing orders; Initiating, assembling, and maintaining charts; and Receptionist duties.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to identify actions to ensure orderly operation of the unit and improve patient care.
- Demonstrates care and concern for customers by striving to meet their expectations. Follows HIPAA guidelines. Seeks supervision or assistance when unable to perform effectively or safely, independently. Uses interpersonal-communication strategies with individuals that are intended to achieve desirable/acceptable outcomes/responses and perceptions of satisfaction by those involved. Enters supply room(s) on nursing units as needed to perform necessary job functions. Refrains from manipulating or removing any intravenous fluids that are stored in the area.
Contributes to continuity of patient care.
- Complies with established hospital/departmental/personnel policies. Documents consistent with established guidelines.
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred: Clerical training
Experience: Preferred: 1 year of related experience
Licensure: Basic Life Support/CPR
Skills: Ability to: transcribe orders; prioritize; utilize computer; handle chart processing; maintain a variety of logs; file; and, handle multiple tasks. Knowledge of: medical terminology; communication techniques; order transcription process; computers; telephone etiquette; role in emergency; confidentiality (HIPAA); patient rights; infection control procedures; chart order/maintenance; and, standards and policies.
