UnitedHealth Group Senior Trainer (RN/Social Worker) – Telecommute (commutable to and within NJ) in New Jersey

The Learning and Performance Solutions team is currently recruiting a Sr. Trainer (RN/Social Worker) to support the Community and State Long Term Support and Services program.

The Senior Trainer (RN/Social Worker) will be responsible for the effective delivery of training for new business initiatives, new and existing training programs that encompass training of clinical staff such as nurses, social workers, and medical directors as well as non-clinical staff.

The Senior Trainer (RN/Social Worker) will be a self-starter with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who promotes optimal training outcomes through:

  • Continual collaboration with stakeholders and SMEs

  • Thorough assessment and analysis of training needs

  • Timely, planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of training

  • Participation in the design of training materials and curriculum to support training programs

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assesses and interprets customer needs and requirements.

  • Identifies solutions to non-standard requests and problems.

  • Solves moderately complex problems and/or conducts moderately complex analyses

  • Works with minimal guidance; seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks

  • Translates concepts into practice

  • Provides explanations and information to others on difficult issues

  • Coaches, provides feedback, and guides others

  • Acts as a resource for others with less experience

  • Participates in the development of training reference and resource materials

  • May participate in Senior Level discussions/meetings

  • May attend meetings as requested by State officials

  • Prepares for and supports effective training facilitation appropriate for the adult learner

  • Manages/supports the learning environment

  • Manages multiple projects at one time with sensitive timelines

  • Measures and enhances learning effectiveness

  • Establish effective working relationships with all levels of staff and management

  • May act as a liaison between State Health Plan leadership and the Learning and Performance Solutions Community and State LTSS Instructional Design team

  • Supports/backs-up other members of the training team

  • Perform other duties to support projects contributing to the success of the New Jersey C&S MLTSS program

Required Qualifications:

  • Current unrestricted RN / SW licensure required in the State of Residence

  • 1+ years of experience with adult learning/training, virtual training, instructional design and/or training project management. (i.e., performing presentations in person and/or through virtual platforms, classroom training experience, virtual/WebEx training experience, being a manager, preceptor, or mentor)

  • 3+ years of clinical experience required (i.e., care coordination, service coordination, case management, etc.)

  • Demonstrated facilitation and presentation skills with the capability to engage, inspire and teach adult learners at all levels

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Visio), SharePoint and Shared Drives

  • Reside in a commutable distance to the NJ UHC office and state of NJ Medicaid Office

  • Ability to travel 25% to 50% of the time to facilitate onsite training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

  • Project Management Experience

  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid

  • Knowledge of managed care

  • Work experience in managing or coordinating care for individuals with complex and special needs

  • Experience with clinical chart reviews

  • Experience with electronic care management applications

  • Excellent communication, planning, and time management skills

  • Ability to focus and work effectively in a complex and change-oriented work environment

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
