Vanderbilt University Medical Center Financial Analyst - Revenue Cycle Hospital Billing (Epic Exp) in Nashville, Tennessee

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for working as a liaison among stakeholders in order to elicit, analyze, communicate, and validate requirements for changes to financial process, policies, business data and information systems. Understand business and financial problems and opportunities in the context of requirements and recommend solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops projections to model the financial impact of programs and projects.

  • Accumulates and analyzes data from existing or established databases.

  • Analyzes, accumulates, and reviews data for Revenue Cycle reports. Conducts technical research and prepares synopses on relevant topics.

  • Assembles data and compiles drafts, outlines and graphic materials for Revenue Cycle presentations.

  • Analyzes the effects of proposed federal and state statutes and regulatory actions which may impact charging and billing.

  • Think strategically and effectively implement tactical elements to ensure strategic goals are met.

  • Demonstrate creative problem solving through pattern reorganization and thinking along unconventional lines.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with people at all levels of an organization.

  • Process Improvement and Analysis

  • Develop continuous process improvement methods applicable to the field and designs plans for implementation.

  • Work with other team members to perform financial analysis, draw conclusions and make recommendations to leadership.

  • Gather data, analyze information, develop conclusions, communicate recommendations clearly and work effectively with others on a team.

  • Research current challenges and trends in the field and brings information and recommendations back to leadership for consideration.

  • Participate in business planning, needs analysis and business risk assessment.

  • Reviews and edits requirements, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution.

  • Recommend measures to improve processes, employee performance, and quality of service provided to the customer.

  • Create and contribute to a work environment of openness, and mutual respect.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:

FINANCIAL ANALYSIS (INTERMEDIATE): - The process of evaluating businesses, projects, budgets, etc. to determine their performance, stability and profitability.

COMMUNICATION OF RESULTS (INTERMEDIATE): - Communicates results and recommendations to customers in a concise and non-technical format. Clearly states implications and potential next steps. Presents analysis, ideas, and findings using the appropriate data visualization and presentation tools [such as Word, Excel, Tableau, and PowerPoint].

PROBLEM SOLVING (INTERMEDIATE): - Uses critical thinking and process improvement i.e. coaches and mentors development of problem statement, describes current state, identifies root causes, creates future state, coaches and mentors development of solutions and action plans with a sustainability plan. Applies appropriate tools to address issues.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT (INTERMEDIATE): - Planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.

WRITTEN COMMUNICATION (INTERMEDIATE): - Demonstrates the ability to write clear, detailed, and comprehensive status reports, memos and documentation. Demonstrates an understanding of effective composition, such as having first line in a paragraph state the subject.
