The Clinical Resource Specialist (Nurse Educator) is an expert clinician in their assigned area of focus. In addition to assisting in direct patient care, the Clinical Resource Specialist will influence care outcomes by providing expert consultation and education for nursing staff and by implementing improvements in health care delivery system. The Clinical Resource Specialist integrates nursing practice, which focuses on assisting patients in the prevention or resolution of illness, with medical diagnosis and treatment of disease, injury and disability. The Clinical Resource Specialist will provide leadership for the department in the absence of the Clinical Manager.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Minimum: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing program. BSN required

Preferred: MSN preferred

Credentials/Licensure

Minimum: Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Michigan. BCLS Certified.

Preferred: Specialty credentialing preferred according to clinical nursing practice specialty

(NRP, STABLE, PALS etc).

Related Experience

  • Experience in education, research, data collection, case management and data analysis.

  • Minimum of 3 years of Clinical Resource Specialist experience or comparable experience.

  • requires NICU experience

*Computer Competency *

Ability to use other software, EMR, as required to perform the essential functions of the job. Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, graphics and presentation software highly desirable.

Essential Functions:

1.Serves as a clinical resource expert primarily focusing on the high risk neonate and Peds experience.

2.Leads the development, implementation, coordination, integration and evaluation of educational programs to strengthen the clinical competence of the staff nurse.

3.Provides support to manager in oversight and direction to ensure compliance with clinical

nursing standards.

4.Demonstrates continual learning behaviors and keeps abreast of new developments in care and regulatory standards.

5.Provides leadership for the evaluation and aggregation of clinical outcomes that reflect the quality of nursing care and process improvements.

6.Develops strategies to strengthen the practice environment and the role of clinical nurses in designing, improving and evaluating care.

7.Designs, evaluates, develops excellent programs for orientation and “on-boarding” of new

nurses as well as programs/opportunities for experienced nurses to continue their professional development.

8.Demonstrates clear, effective communication skills – written, verbally 1:1 and in direct delivery of educational programs.

9.All other duties as assigned.
