Monroe Chamber of Commerce Community Engagement Specialist in Monroe, Washington
Position Overview: • Provide visitors with travel information, create displays, answer inquiries from the public, and sell tourist products. • Provide a customer-first approach in pursuit of providing the best possible visitor experience at the Monroe Visitor Information Center. • Support the Operations Manager in efforts to increase Visitor Center marketing activities including production of printed marketing materials, maintenance of the VIC website, social media presence and ensure that visitor kiosks and hotel rack cards are replenished. Position Expectations: Work Schedule: 10 am to 4 pm, Saturdays 2nd Tuesday of each month. Additional days as required ***Qualifications:*** Education / Experience: • Highly developed time management skills and proven ability to produce timely results of a high standard • First class communication skills, including an ability to represent the Chamber and Visitor Center in a business setting • Strong customer focus Technical: • Proficient knowledge of computer systems, specifically in MS Office products • Ability to communicate – verbal, non-verbal and listening skills with volunteers, members, peers, and coworkers. • Highly motivated ***Physical Requirements *** • Some lifting and carrying (able to lift 25 lbs) and able to freely move up and down stairs. • Able to setup a pop up tent without assistance and not afraid to climb a ladder and hang a banner over a doorway. • This job requires a lot of sitting, standing and walking. ***Minimum Daily Work Expectations *** • Review and respond to emails. • Review and respond to voicemails. • Review Business Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. Respond to comments, create daily posts, update status as set forth in Marketing Calendar. • Update website calendar and Facebook calendar • Other duties as required by Executive Director and Board of Directors *** Minimum Event Coordination and Staffing *** Events are coordinated throughout the year that occur on weekends and nights. A Calendar of Events has been prepared for the year. The Community Engagement Specialist may be expected to attend events that are tourism related or cover the office during regular business hours if the Operations Manager is involved with events. *** Compensation and Benefits *** • Hourly position, $13.50 an hour • Average monthly hours 30 hours during off season and weeks without any special events and 36-40 hours a month other times of the year. • This position does not qualify for medical, dental or other insurance coverage or other benefits. • Paid sick time is based on Initiative 1433.
