UnitedHealth Group Senior Healthcare Economics Analyst – Pittsburgh, PA, Minnetonka, MN preferred or Telecommute Considered in Minnetonka, Minnesota

Positions in this function research and investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and healthcare costs data. Provides management with statistical findings and conclusions. Identifies potential areas for medical cost improvements and alternative pricing strategies. Provides data in support of actuarial, financial and utilization analyses. Assist with the automation of current Healthcare Economics reporting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review and validation of network optimization financial data.

  • Completion of physician scorecards according to terms of Value Based Contracts and present to Health Plan

  • Prepare payment request submissions based on scorecard results

  • Financial modelling in support of United Health Network requests, following contracting guidelines

  • Perform standard model and financial scorecard reviews

  • Assist in automation of accruals of Value Based Contracts

  • Interpret and analyze claims, premium, capitation and membership data in support of underwriting, actuarial and utilization analyses

Required Qualifications

  • 4-year College Degree (Bachelor Level) in Finance, Accounting, Business, IT or related field or equivalent work experience

  • 2+ years of experience in data analytics

  • 2+ years work experience

  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in SQL and Visual Basic

  • Assesses and interprets customer needs and requirements

  • Identifies solutions to non-standard requests and problems

  • Solves moderately complex data issues and/or performs moderately complex analyses for ad hoc health plan requests
