Independent Risk Management

Independent Risk Management (IRM) establishes, implements, and maintains the Company’s Risk Management Program under the direction of the Risk Committee and senior management. IRM is accountable for independently overseeing the identification, measurement, assessment, monitoring, aggregation, and reporting on all risks for the Enterprise. IRM also oversees the Front Line’s execution of its risk management responsibilities and independently and credibly challenges Front Line risk decisions. IRM may also approve any risk-taking activity that exceeds the Front Line Group’s authority.

In addition to the risk management responsibilities discussed above, IRM develops and reviews company-wide risk governance documents and monitors compliance with such documents. IRM considers statutes, regulations, and regulatory guidance when developing risk governance documents. IRM also monitors compliance with company-wide risk appetite thresholds and limits.

Conduct Management is a centralized team within Corporate Risk. Conduct Management has enterprise-wide responsibilities that include case intake (including EthicsLine), triage, research, and investigations related to potential team member misconduct. These functions are supported by reporting and analytics capability, training, ethics and ethics advisory, and relationship management support for the front line.

The Role

The Conduct Management Leader–Reporting & Analytics reports to Adam Topkis, Head of Conduct Management. This position will lead a geographically dispersed team responsible for designing, overseeing the creation of, and delivering strategic insights and comprehensive reporting related to conduct topics across the enterprise. This functionality will cover information both within and outside Conduct Management.

Leveraging in-depth knowledge of analytics and external market factors, this leader will provide leadership and guidance for the following functional areas: Board reporting, management reporting, team management reporting support, technology business leadership for the Enterprise Allegations Platform (EAP), and Internal Fraud Monitoring & Analytics. He/she will continually assess the reporting and analytics capabilities of the team, providing recommendations and decision strategies that will be used to enhance Wells Fargo’s overall conduct management approach. This position will be accountable for identifying and transforming data into actionable insights, including managing modeling, forecasting, and reporting to advance business outcomes and support enterprise goals.

Serving as a collaborative business partner and industry expert in data reporting and analytics, this leader will develop strong partnerships across the enterprise to identify current and future needs of Conduct Management. This includes leveraging skills in problem-solving, communication, relationship management, influence, and negotiation to effectively engage partners, lead with a One Wells Fargo view, and achieve consistent agreement regarding measurement methods and data interpretation.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Define and influence the vision, values, and strategy for the Reporting & Analytics function

  • Build the reporting and analytical capabilities of Conduct Management, including recommending enhancements to existing reporting processes and managing modeling, forecasting, reporting, and/or data distribution tools

  • Provide leadership to transform data into actionable insights and recommend decision strategies for high-risk processes that drive business outcomes

  • Assess metrics and reporting to update and inform Conduct Management and key stakeholders regarding key patterns, trends, and concerns

  • Collaborate across the enterprise to analyze trends, identify emerging issues, and predict current and future needs

  • Act as technology business owner and identify opportunities to continually improve the Enterprise Allegations Platform (EAP)

  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement strategies for developing and utilizing technical resources to predict, improve, and measure the success of fundamentals and new initiatives linked to business outcomes

  • Define measurement standards/collaborate across the enterprise to achieve consistent agreement on the application of definitions, measurements, and interpretation

  • Coach, develop, and lead the Reporting & Analytics team utilizing the Wells Fargo leadership model and exemplifying the expected leadership behaviors

  • Provide input and thought leadership in development the strategic direction of Wells Fargo’s Conduct Management function, aligning with enterprise business objectives and Corporate Risk priorities

  • Provide strategic thinking related to enterprise-wide conduct issues

  • Promote a strong team culture consistent with enterprise culture and provide leadership / guidance to leaders, senior managers, and their teams

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in analytics, modeling, or a combination of both

  • 8+ years of management experience; or 3+ years of leadership experience in an advanced quantitative analytics function
